Unit 7 introduces Vinyl with £250k investment and We Care initiative

Saturday Night Fever is set to hit Basildon as the town’s multi-million pound club, Unit 7, goes Vinyl following a £250,000 investment.

The Festival Leisure Park club will be revealing its new, retro themed Vinyl room [formerly Studio], featuring glitter balls and an illuminated dancefloor, while playing guilty pleasures and pop classics on Friday 27 April. Taking the headline spot will be Heart FM DJ and TV presenter, Toby Anstis.

On Saturday 28 April, chart-topping pop duo the Cheeky Girls will be performing in Vinyl and Blazin’ Squad are re-uniting and playing their hits in Arena.

Unit 7’s general manager Colin Goodwin said: “We can’t wait to reveal Vinyl and get the party started with Toby and the Cheeky Girls.  We are confident it’s going to be pick of the pops, with hits from the 80s, 90s and 00s and songs that everyone loves. We’ve got booths with inflatable guitars and dress-up items to make every night a night to remember!”

The investment by The Deltic Group, will also include an upgraded light and sound system and 10 VIP booths, which can be booked in advance.

Alongside the Vinyl launch, Unit 7 is also introducing a safety initiative, ‘We Care’, to help clubbers keep safe on a night out in the town. Customer Care Ambassadors, dressed in red, will be available on all nights to help with any query, question or issue customers may have.

Communication is key, so the club has installed free phone charging stations in the cloakrooms and access to a landline (free of charge) for those who lose their phone. Other We Care pledges include a taxi escort service for vulnerable individuals and a free handbag cloakroom service.

Colin Goodwin explains: “Creating a great night out for our customers is our main priority and safety is at the forefront of this. Our ‘We Care’ initiative is designed to give customers all the tools they need for a fun but safe night out.”

Staff have been trained to look out for vulnerable customers, offer support and question anyone leaving the venue alone.  The initiative is supported by posters and flyers within the club, reminding customers to stay safe.
